What Affects Injection Molding Cost?

Injection molding cost is influenced by part geometry, mold structure, material, production quantity and quality requirements. Understanding these factors helps customers prepare better RFQs.

Part design and mold complexity

Large parts, tight tolerances, sliders, lifters, threads, undercuts and high cosmetic requirements usually increase mold cost. Simple and well-designed parts are easier to tool and produce.

Material and production quantity

Material price, processing difficulty, cycle time and annual volume all affect the final unit cost. Higher quantities can reduce unit cost but may require stronger tooling.

How to quote faster

Send 3D files, 2D drawings, material requirements, surface finish, annual quantity and sample photos. A clear RFQ helps engineering teams estimate tooling and production cost more accurately.
